Business Support Assistant

Poole office · Full time · Supporting our Building Control Inspectors

Job summary

MC Plan & Site Services, a Registered Building Control Approver, are looking for a Business Support Assistant to join their Support Team.

As the first organisation to register with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) as an RBCA in the UK when regulations changed in 2024, MC Plan & Site Services have evidenced their forward-thinking, innovative and industry-leading principles since their inception in 2013. With Building Control Inspectors positioned across the UK, our new Business Support Assistant will be situated at our Poole-based office, and form part of an experienced team of existing BSAs, tasked with supporting our Technical Teams elsewhere in the UK.

The successful candidate will be organised and able to methodically handle a sizeable workload. You will be working closely with a team of Inspectors and managing all internal elements of our clients’ applications.

Main objectives

  • Responsible for the everyday management of Building Control applications in a methodical and organised manner.
  • To liaise, communicate with and support your team of Inspectors to ensure the smooth processing of applications whilst adhering to Building Control requirements.
  • To successfully manage the allocation of your time and ensure you stay on top of your workload.
  • Handling a large number of incoming calls, ensuring that all client communications receive a swift response.

Responsibilities and duties

  • To administer the Building Control process from initial application, through to submission of final certificate and Building Control sign off.
  • To book site inspections into Inspectors’ diaries and liaise with clients regarding their differing stages of construction.
  • To uphold professionalism and client satisfaction at all times, by managing your workload in a timely manner.

Qualifications and experience

Due to the technical understanding and regulatory adherence required from our Business Support Team, this role would be best suited to a candidate with experience within the construction industry, specifically building control. Furthermore, competency in the English language, both written and verbal, is essential in order to disseminate British governance and regulations.

We have a bespoke internal Building Control Operating System, therefore strong IT capability and an understanding of advanced Microsoft Office is essential.

Interviews will be conducted in two stages. The first stage will be a competency-based interview with Human Resources, the second with a Company Director together with our Business Support Team Leader.

Benefits

Training and personal development are paramount for MC Plan; as well as frequent in-house sessions, external training will be encouraged and subsidised by the organisation for individuals who demonstrate the characteristics that we are looking for.

Working hours are 8.30–17.00 Monday to Thursday and 8.30–16.30 on Fridays, with a 30-minute break each day.

The successful candidate will be compensated with a competitive salary and 31 days' holiday including bank holidays.

A dog-friendly office, free on-site parking, regular team building and company incentive schemes, and a kitchen regularly stocked with goodies: MC Plan are proud to have low attrition and a supportive, encouraging workforce.
